Youth Human Rights Movement (YHRM)
Information campaign "Young Antifascists"
Target countries: Russia, Armenia, Moldova, Italy, Ukraine, Belarus, Latvia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Poland and Germany (also possible: Holland, France, Turkey).
Target groups: students, elder schoolchildren
NOTE: every interested person or organization can join the Campaign
Duration of the project : From: 01/04/2005 - To: 31/12/2005
Problem:
- There are a lot of antifascism networks in Europe acting only in English, and no one bilingual (and this makes all materials, sites, books etc. almost non-useful to act in Russia and NIS);
- YHRM possesses successful enough experience of networking activity in Russia and NIS which may be extended within other European countries;
- Although problem of antifascism is developing there's still low attention to the topic within youth, who can do a lot within their country and on the international level.
Main aims:
- to put thematic of Antifascism on the agenda among youth in target countries, to promote image of Young Antifascist;
- to establish international youth networking against fascism (bilingual: Russian, English);
- to extend YHRM activity in Europe.
Working methods:
1) International Graphics Contest "Unauthorized Persons… are Welcome!" (Probable title)
Target group: students, youth (who may be not involved in civil activity yet).
Objective: to involve young people in such "easy" activity, to interest them by topic and form of activity.
The contest will be announced in Internet and information will be spread within different international meetings as well.
Graphics will be submitted by e-mail.
We'd conducted pilot version of the Contest in spring 2004 and attached there's the example of advertisement.
There is also pilot version of the site -
www.antifa.ynnet.org
Pilot stage was successful but not very mass (because of lack of recourses).
This time we plan to conduct Contest in 2 stages:
April, 2 - June 30 - with the beginning on the "Day of Peoples' Union".
We'll offer young people from target countries to submit graphics works dedicated to topics: antifascism, peacemaking, tolerance etc. All laureates will get special Diplomas.
September, 1 - October 31 - with the beginning on the Day when II World War started.
We'll offer all participants of the 1st stage to compete once again - but this time task will be changed - topic and particular form will be adopted to current situation in the world (and still it will stay within the large dimension of the project - antifascism).
In November the Winners and Laureates of the 2nd stage will be selected and given by
Diplomas.
Also the best works will be included in
the Project's Almanac.
2) Information campaign "Young Antifascists"
Target group: young people, who participates, volunteers for different NGOs but also may be interested in Antifascism activity; ordinary students and elder schoolchildren.
The objective: to put antifascism topic on the agenda among youth in target countries.
We'll produce a number of posters, stickers etc. Designs of Contests' winners and laureates will be used.
There will be 2 steps in materials dissemination called "Campaigns".
3) Development of YHRM section "Youth Network against Racism and Intolerance / YNRI"
We'll offer all participants of previous measures and other young people some kind of regularly activity - through participation in this YHRM Section.
What will section do?
- find and share different news about antifascism all around the world,
- conduct Internet and e-mail actions in the sphere of antifascism, peacemaking and tolerance,
- promote image of Young Antifascist.
Section also has background: in autumn 2003 we started to work on the idea and now we have about 30 activists in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Italy, and France. Also there's electronic version of antifascism bulletin "Open City" - but now only in Russian -
www.opencity.hrworld.ru
Activity within the Project:
- antifascism news-flash,
- 2 Internet actions.
We'll realize 2 Internet actions - probably dates for actions: September 1, November 16.
The Action may be encompassed in Internet polling, petitions online etc. with wide spread results of it.
Results expected
- not less then 2500 young people know about the Project;
- not less then 300 participants of the Contest;
- not less then 2 actions to promote image of Young Antifascist;
- not less then 200 new members in YHRM Section "YNRI";
